Scaning tips and tricks

Instructions on how to scan using the Uni Scanner;
1) Load desired item into the scanner facing down (if a document or something with text)
2) Press the PDF button
3) This will bring up the scanning box on the screen, you do not want it to scan as a pdf so instead choose 'save to file'
4) This should change it into jpeg (if not select jpeg from the drop down box on the top right), then click on the button underneath called 'advanced image options' --> a box should appear and you want to check that the right resolution is entered (in this case 300dpi)
5) click save changes on the advanced image options, then in the bottom right hand corner click the 'advanced saving options' this allows you to change the save location (I generally always save to desktop)
6) make sure that you tick the box that says 'show preview'
7) click scan
8) a preview of your scan should pop up, if your happy with the composition of the scan (i.e. no edges cut off etc) then click confirm
9) scan should be done!

Resolutions to always remember;
- 300dpi is best for commercial printing. Used for magazine etc. The files are very large
- 150 - 200dpi is good for laser and inkjet printers (i.e. home and office). Always best if you make a test print to clarify the best resolution within that range when using a home/office printer
- 72 - 96dpi is good for email attachments, the web, powerpoint and multimedia
